Grugier-Hill, Reid practice in full pads

Texans safety Justin Reid and linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill both returned to full-pads practice on Wednesday, and, although their contact was limited, their participation was a favorable development toward their possible full return against the Bills.

Reid and Grugier-Hill both suffered knee injuries Sept. 19 against the Browns and did not play in Houston’s 24-9 loss to the Panthers last Thursday. Carolina totaled 407 offensive yards in their collective absence, which also included starting cornerback Terrance Mitchell, who exited the Browns game with a concussion and has yet to return to practice because of an illness.

Texans coach David Culley said Mitchell will be available for Houston’s game in Buffalo on Sunday. Culley said Reid’s status is “day-to-day” and that they’re hoping Grugier-Hill will “be full go” by the weekend.

Thigh injury limits Britt

Justin Britt, Houston’s starting center, was limited in practice with a thigh injury, reserve running back Scottie Phillips missed practice with an illness, and wide receiver Danny Amendola remains sidelined with a hamstring injury he suffered against the Browns.

Amendola has not been placed on the injured reserve, which requires players to sit out at least three weeks. At the time of the injury, Amendola was expected to miss two to three weeks.

Fairbairn, Moore return from IR

The Texans designated kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn and safety A.J. Moore to return from injured reserve, and, on Wednesday, the two players practiced in full pads.

Fairbairn was placed on the IR Sept. 8, after he pulled the muscle during warmups before the preseason finale against the Buccaneers. The Texans subsequently signed Joey Slye, who pushed a 41-yard field goal wide left against the Browns and missed a point-after attempt against the Panthers.
