‘Hot Girl’ Workout

Megan Thee Stallion teams with Nike on shimmer-worthy exercise program

Megan Thee Stallion can add another role to her résumé: “Thee Hot Girl Coach.”

The Houston native and threetime Grammy award-winning rapper is collaborating with Nike and one of their trainers, Tara Nicolas, for a series of free workouts designed to build energy, endurance and balance, all accessible through the Nike Training Club app.

Megan shared the official Nike advertisement on her Instagram, which is a narration of her fitness journey and how finding her passions began in her beloved hometown of Houston.

In one of the campaign ads, Megan is seen wearing a sequined maroon and white majorette uniform, paying homage to her alma mater, Texas Southern University — a historically black university — and the Motion of the Ocean Dance Team.

Thee Hot Girl Coach’s message is clear: Being an athlete isn’t solely limited to playing basketball, volleyball or running track — all things the rapper tried after many suggested she do so because of her long legs. But none of them were her passion.

According to Megan, dancing, rapping and performing are her sports. “I am an athlete, and so are you,” she wrote in her Instagram caption.

“Let’s see you run through 12-hour dance rehearsals, train five days a week, (and) then perform in front of 50,000 people — squatting 50% of the time.”

So, what is it like to enroll in the Hottie Bootcamp? I trained with Megan Thee Stallion, and here’s how it went.

Within the Nike Training Club app, which has been available to users for free throughout the pandemic, trainees have access to Megan’s “Thee Hottie Handbook” — which includes candid tips on

everything from healthy living, to body appreciation and cheat days — and three workouts.

I kicked things off with the “Pop It Lower Body” workout. It’s a 10-minute session that requires no equipment, and as a muchretired track athlete who hasn’t seen a gym for an unforgivable amount of time, I needed to start at this beginner level.

If you’re short on time and want to squeeze in a quick burner, this workout has your name written all over it. The focus of these circuit exercises is to target the lower body and glute strength.

In other words, my thighs felt the burn, and my heart rate rose as I jammed to the well-curated workout playlist with Megan. It almost distracted me from the fact that I was starting to breathe heavily.

And with Thee Hot Girl Coach as your trainer, be prepared to laugh.

When Megan confessed “Yelling is my therapy” during a set of heel taps, I knew I was in the right place and felt validated in my running tally of random squawks that I released during the workout.

If you’re worried about being hoodwinked or bamboozled into doing “extra sets” of drills by a trainer who “lost track” of which set you were on, this isn’t going to happen on Thee Hot Girl Coach’s watch. If the circuit calls for three rounds, she sticks to the script — no sneaky sets, which is a platform that I can get behind.

“Trainers like to trick you,” Megan said. “I know the tricks.”

After a mini water break and a firm pep talk to my thighs to pull themselves together, I braced for round two: the “Hot Girl Core” workout. This is a 15-minute session that also doesn’t require any equipment (though a yoga mat wouldn’t hurt) and focuses on core strength and endurance.

This is where things got sweaty, or “a good shimmer,” as Megan said. “Hot Girls don’t sweat, we shimmer.”

Here’s what to expect on this core burner: bird dogs, bear holds, planks, pendulum legs and more drills. It’s going to be a lot of fun that you will feel immediately and within the next business day!

My core certainly was working overtime, and my quads were questioning why I decided to single them out.

It’s far from a dull experience training with Megan Thee Stallion, and if she keeps dropping more workouts, then I may finally graduate from being a “My Little Pony” to a stallion.
