JAMES DUDLEY “JIM” BARRON

James Dudley Barron, 89, of Phenix City, Alabama and Sour Lake, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021, with visitation before the service beginning 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 at Veterans Funeral Services Chapel with the Chaplain John Read, Colonel, USA, Retired, officiating. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery. Services are being handled by Veterans Funeral Services.

James Dudley Barron was born in Andalusia, Alabama to John Dudley Barron and Emma Elizabeth Dawkins, on March 14, 1932. Known by friends as Jim, and by family, as Dudley. He attended Phenix City High School in Phenix City, Alabama, graduating in 1950 from Sour Lake High School in Sour Lake, Texas. He married his high school love, Bobbye Jean Moore, on July 26, 1952 in Beaumont, Texas. He attended Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas before joining the US Air Force on December 4, 1952. During his career, James distinguished himself by receiving several awards including the Gautier NonCommissioned Officer Award in 1966. After a successful career of 21 years, James retired from military service. James continued his career as an electrical engineer/project manager for several international companies in the oil and gas industry. James traveled internationally, managing projects in several countries including Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Kuwait,

Saudi Arabia, and United Kingdom.

James Dudley is preceded in death by his father and mother, John Dudley Barron and Emma Dawkins Barron; his infant son, James Michael Barron; his brothers, Hughie Barron and Joseph Barron, and sisters, Coleta Shuman, Nadine Murphy, Oraette Lunsford, Harveta Barr, and Nelda Nicol.

James Dudley is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Bobbye J. Moore Barron; his children, Dudley Malcolm Barron, Vicki Barron Foster, and Carla Barron Lucas and her husband, Chad J. Lucas; his grandchildren, Justin Barron, Kellye Sanders and her husband, Derek, Rachel Gastelum and her husband, Dominique, Alyssa Nicholson and her husband, Shawn, Brandon Barron, Alexandra Malcolm, Crystal Pellegrin and her husband Jeremiah, and Shaun Lucas and his wife, Amanda. His great grandchildren Quentin Pellegrin, Owen Pellegrin, Parker Lucas, Leo Gastelum, Spencer Nicholson, Jax Lucas, and Luke Gastelum. Also sharing in remembrance of James is his sister-in-law Bettye J. Chumley and, his nieces, Jackie Arrington, and Kayla Gaddis and her husband, Robert Gaddis. “Uncle Dudley” is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Washington.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Barron’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or any Veteran’s assistance program.
