WEST VIRGINIA (2-3) AT BAYLOR (4-1)

When/where: 11 a.m. at McLane Stadium, Waco.

TV: FS1.

Update: Both teams are coming off losses in which they failed to score in the opening half. Baylor punted on its first eight possession­s at Oklahoma State. The Mountainee­rs, who lost their past two games on lastminute field goals, are 12th nationally in rushing defense (88 yards per game) but last in the Big 12 in rushing (116).

TCU (2-2)

AT TEXAS TECH (4-1)

When/where: 6 p.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock.

TV: ESPN.

Update: TCU, which is coming off close losses to SMU (42-34) and Texas (32-27), is making its first road trip. The Horned Frogs are second nationally in converting third downs (52 percent). Under Matt Wells, Texas Tech is 0-4 in trying to win back-to-back Big 12 games. Red Raiders offensive coordinato­r Sonny Cumbie served in that role at TCU the past seven seasons.

LAMAR (2-2) AT SAM HOUSTON (4-0)

When/where: 2 p.m. at Bowers Stadium, Huntsville. Update: Sam Houston prevailed 62-7 in Beaumont when these two teams faced each other in the spring 2021 schedule. The Bearkats are hosting the Cardinals for the first time since a 20-17 tripleover­time defeat in 2019.

SFA (3-2) AT JACKSONVIL­LE ST. (2-3)

When/where: 3 p.m. at JSU Stadium, Jacksonvil­le, Ala. Update: SFA is coming off a tough 21-20 loss to Sam Houston at NRG Stadium. Even in defeat, at No. 23, the Lumberjack­s cracked the FCS top 25 poll for the first time since 2015. SFA and Jacksonvil­le State are tied for the most defensive touchdowns (three) in the FCS.

TEXAS SOUTHERN (1-3) VS. SOUTHERN (2-2)

When/where: 4 p.m. at Choctaw Stadium (Globe Life Park), Arlington.

Radio: 90.9 FM.

Update: The Tigers are coming off a 69-0 homecoming victory over North American University, a second-year club team. Southern opened SWAC play two weeks ago on the road, topping Mississipp­i Valley State 38-25.

NORTHWESTE­RN ST. (0-4) AT HBU (0-4)

When/where: 6 p.m. at Husky Stadium.

Update: One team will get its first victory and even its Southland record at 1-1. P.J. Herrington has 23 tackles and two picks for the Demons. Sophomore Desmond Young will make his second start at quarterbac­k for the Huskies.

SMU (5-0) AT NAVY (1-3)

When/where: 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, Md.

TV: CBS Sports Network. Update: SMU has won its first five games for a third straight season and is ranked 24th. An improving Navy scored only 10 points over its first two games, but last week upended Central Florida 34-30, rushing for 348 yards in its triple option.

NORTH TEXAS (1-3) AT MISSOURI (2-3)

When/where: 3 p.m. at Faurot Field, Columbia, Mo. TV: SEC Network

Update: Both teams are struggling. North Texas lost three straight games before last week’s open date. Missouri fired defensive line coach Jethro Franklin this week. The Tigers are last in the SEC in rushing defense at 308.4 yards per game and gave up 458 yards on the ground in a 62-24 loss to Tennessee.

UTSA (5-0) AT W. KENTUCKY (1-3)

When/where: 6 p.m. at Smith Stadium at Bowling Green, Ky.

Update: Sincere McCormick has 541 rushing yards for UTSA, which allows only 298.2 total yards per game. Former HBU star Bailey Zappe has thrown for 1,712 yards and 16 touchdowns directing the Hilltopper­s.

S. ALABAMA (3-1) AT TEXAS STATE (1-3)

When/where: 6 p.m. Saturday at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.

Update: The Bobcats have struggled in all phases, ranking 114th in the FBS in total offense (330.3 yards per game) and 109th in total defense (437.5 yards per game).

UTEP (4-1) AT SOUTHERN MISS (1-4)

When/where: 6 p.m. at Roberts Stadium, Hattiesbur­g, Ms.

Update: UTEP goes on the road in C-USA for the first time. In topping Old Dominion 28-21, the Miners won their C-USA opener for the first time in 12 years. With Ty Keyes out for an extended period of time with a lower body injury, Southern Miss is on its fourth quarterbac­k.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN (3-2) AT E. KENTUCKY (3-2)

When/where: 5 p.m. at Kidd Stadium, Richmond, Ky. Update: For Abilene Christian, this is the second of seven WAC/ASUN Challenge games. ACU’s offense leads the WAC in yards, averaging 414.8. The Colonels, playing the last of four straight home games, score 92 percent of the time in the red zone.
