Jolly leads Ridge Point’s shutout win

The Ridge Point Panthers had a jolly good time Friday night.

Running back Ezell Jolly rushed for two touchdowns and caught another, all in the first half, as the Panthers rollicked to a 44-0 win over Dulles in District 20-6A play at Hall Stadium.

Ridge Point, No. 9 in the area 6A media poll, improved to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in district.

Jolly collected an 8-yard scoring pass from quarterbac­k Bert Emanuel Jr. for an early 7-0 lead on Dulles, which dropped to 2-4, 0-3. He rushed for four- and one-yard touchdowns in the second quarter, leading Ridge Point to a 30-0 halftime.

Emanuel finished 15-for-20 for 332 yards and three touchdowns through the air and added 32 rushing yards.

Next up for the Panthers is a Thursday showdown with George Ranch (4-2, 2-1).

Clear Falls snags win over Clear Springs

Clear Falls finally cleared a colossal hurdle.

The area 6A No. 15 Knights (6-1, 2-1 24-6A) prevailed in a 48-35 shootout with Clear Springs at Challenger Columbia Stadium for their first win over the Chargers (3-3, 1-1) in 10 tries. Clear Springs won 27-14 last season and 56-21 two years ago.

Standout running back David Smith paced the breakthrou­gh performanc­e, supplying 205 yards and two scores on 28 carries. Luke Vidal added seven receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown and an 81-yard kickoff-return touchdown.

Clear Springs quarterbac­k Cody Kuhlmann threw for four touchdowns and 308 yards in defeat.

Jersey Village rallies past Cy-Fair

Don’t count the Village out. Area 6A No. 18 Jersey Village rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to clip Cy-Fair 39-30 in a thriller at Pridgeon Stadium.

The win sent the Falcons flying to a perfect 6-0 mark. They’re 3-0 in 17-6A

Cy-Fair (2-3, 1-2) was up 17-3 in the second quarter after Hunter Warren returned a blocked punt 25 yards for a touchdown. Jersey Village responded with two touchdowns, including a defensive score, but trailed 17-15 at halftime.

The Falcons surged ahead on Arbrie Carter’s 9-yard scoring grab in the third quarter. Carter also caught a touchdown in the first half. Rashon Estes then helped initiate the rally with touchdown runs of 3 and 5 yards.

Douglas powers Hightower’s victory

Believe the hype on Hightower.

The Hurricanes flattened Foster 34-7 on the road at Traylor Stadium on the strength of big-time performanc­es by Caleb Douglas and Jeremy Payne. Douglas supplied two touchdowns, including a 46-yard grab in the first quarter, and Payne rushed for 188 yards and another 46-yard touchdown on only 16 carries.

The area 5A No. 5 Hurricanes (5-1, 4-0 in 10-5A Division I) finished with 346 yards on 38 rushes, averaging 9.1 yards per carry, and 481 total yards. Kaleb Johnson added 90 total yards and a touchdown, and Jaylin Mendez and Braylen Kizzee each had an intercepti­on.

Foster (4-3, 3-2) managed only 148 yards as its three-game winning streak ended.

Thursday notes

• Klein Collins knocked Tomball from the ranks of the unbeaten, rolling to a 31-8 victory in District 15-6A action at Klein Memorial Stadium. Jeremiah Hasan-Hackney scored two rushing touchdowns, and Ethan Bridges added another as the Tigers (2-4, 2-0) collected 275 yards on the ground. The Klein Collins defense limited Tomball (6-1, 2-1) to just 189 total yards.

• Cypress Creek rolled to a 41-21 victory over Cypress Ridge in a District 17-6A matchup at Pridgeon Stadium. Quarterbac­k Brad Jackson led the charge for the Cougars (3-3, 2-1), passing for 266 yards and five touchdowns. Kendrick Ward and Dominic Ramirez each had a pair of touchdown catches, and Kirby Sims had the other. Carson Williams had two picks on defense.

• Tompkins bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 52-7 victory over Katy Taylor in District 19-6A action at Legacy Stadium. Quarterbac­k Cole Francis orchestrat­ed the offense at a high level, passing for 365 yards and five touchdowns. Joshua McMillan had a huge game with seven catches for 215 yards and three scores for the Falcons (6-1, 2-1).

• Clements held on for a 27-25 victory over Elkins in a District 20-6A matchup at Hall Stadium. The Rangers (5-1, 2-1) held a 13-point lead following an intercepti­on return for a touchdown by Tyton Chanthalac­k with 8:54 remaining. That would be just enough as they staved off a rally attempt from the Knights. Junior Onipede also had a pick for the Clements defense.

• Cypress Woods edged Langham Creek in a pivotal District 16-6A game, earning a 17-16 victory at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Trey Craft gave the Wildcats (3-3, 2-1) the lead for good with a 6-yard touchdown run with 7:39 to play in the third quarter. Craft rushed for 97 yards and two scores. Joshua Jones, William Price and Dylan Rogers all had intercepti­ons on defense. Tanner Murray had two rushing touchdowns to lead the Lobos (2-4, 1-2).

• George Ranch got back into the win column with a 35-21 victory over Fort Bend Austin in District 20-6A play at Traylor Stadium. Hymond Drinkard rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns for the Longhorns (4-2, 2-1), and Jaden Shelton added 101 yards and a score. Jamal Franklin had 151 receiving yards, 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Austin.
