The Village of Southampton residents: Creative for Alzheimer’s
The Village of Southampton, a luxury retirement living, assisted living and memory care community located within proximity of Rice University and managed by Retirement Center Management, held a “Dress My Table” event to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association on Nov. 4. The event was a success, raising $10,811 for the charity.
To raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, residents collaborated with a group of volunteers and staff members to “dress” the tables with a variety of antique place settings, family heirlooms and decorations to celebrate the winter holidays. An auction was held which featured paintings and hand-crafted wreaths created by residents. Tables decorated by residents and community members were a unique expression and displayed a short biography and message to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s.
Robyn Clement, community liaison for Retirement Center Management, said the event was “over-the-top fabulous because of the five-star Southampton team and all of the authors, chefs, musicians, and entertainers that gave their time, talent, heart, and wisdom in creating these inspirational artistic masterpieces,” adding, “I am so happy to have been a small part and to have had a front row seat to love, strength, and excellence in action.”
Lynn Wallace, chief sales and business development officer, said she was “moved and touched by the beautiful displays and themes of each table and inspired by the dedication and enthusiasm of all involved to raise money for a cause that is near and dear to my heart and affects so many people.”
