Evee, Rice win at New Orleans

Travis Evee scored 19 points, Carl Pierre added 15 and Chris Mullins contribute­d 11 points and 10 assists as the Rice Owls held off New Orleans 83-78 at Kiefer Lakefront Arena in New Orleans Friday night.

Max Fiedler finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Rice (3-1) and Jake Lieppert added 13 points.

Derek St. Hilaire led New Orleans (1-3) with 21 points.

Jalen Duren had 22 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks as the Tigers won at home to improve to 4-0.
