Boys

De’Monte’ Seymore, Sr., Manvel

Notable: Seymore had a monster game in a 41-31 victory over Pflugervil­le Weiss in the Class 5A Division I area playoffs, rushing for a career-high 381 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries. The senior has piled up 1,715 yards and 27 touchdowns this season, and his performanc­e put him over 3,000 rushing yards for his career.

What coach Kevin Hall said: “He’s a phenomenal running back and human being. He’s shattered the Manvel High all-time rushing record previously held by D’Eriq King.”

Jerrell Wimbley, Sr., C.E. King: Wimbley rushed for 323 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries as the Panthers defeated Shadow Creek 52-34 in the Class 6A Division I area playoffs. The senior has piled up 1,972 yards and 25 touchdowns this season and surpassed 4,000 career rushing yards against the Sharks. C.E. King will play Katy in the regional semifinals Friday.

Kade Houston, Jr., Conroe Covenant: Houston collected seven total touchdowns during an 88-42 victory over Temple Holy Trinity in the TAPPS 6-man Division II regional playoffs. He rushed for 356 yards and four scores, had two touchdown catches and returned a kickoff to the end zone. Covenant will face Marble Falls Faith Academy in the state semifinals.

Caleb Blocker, Tompkins: Blocker rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-14 victory over a previously unbeaten Jersey Village team in the Class 6A Division I area playoffs. Blocker has collected just under 1,000 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Tompkins will face North Shore in the regional semifinals Friday.

Girls

Bailey Hanner, Sr., Fort Bend Christian

Notable: Hanner had two standout performanc­es at the TAPPS Class 5A state volleyball tournament, leading the Eagles to their first-ever title. The senior Texas State signee posted 22 kills and 15 digs in the semifinals against Second Baptist. She followed that up with 16 kills and 12 digs against Prince of Peace.

Melinda Winston,

Soph., Hastings: In the Sharpstown Showcase, Winston averaged 17.3 points per game, helping lead her team to a 3-1 record. The sophomore’s most notable showing came in the finale when she tallied 23 points with 10 rebounds and six steals in a victory over Port Arthur Memorial.

Katelyn Chomko, Sr., Tomball Memorial: Chomko helped the Wildcats win two games and improve to 7-1 this season. The senior had 18 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks against Willis and 10 points, six assists, two steals and three blocks against College Park.

Janessa Tennison, Fr., Montgomery: Tennison was named the most valuable player of the Splendora Invitation­al after leading the Bears to the tournament championsh­ip. Tennison tallied 11 points as Montgomery defeated Tomball 37-28 in the title game. The Bears are 8-0 after winning just five games last season.
