Charles Aaron Richards passed away peacefully on at his home in Houston, on Thursday, the 25th of November 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years of age.

Charlie was born on the 9th of December 1930, in San Benito, Texas, the son of Verda Mae and Elvin Clarence Richards. He was raised in Kingsville, Texas and graduated from King High School.

He met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Thompson when he was 14, and they were married in 1950. They moved to College Station where he was attending Texas A&M and then moved to Houston in 1952. They had three children, David (19511971), Gail, and Chuck. They moved to Conroe in 1968 and then moved back to Houston in 1979.

Charlie founded and started several successful companies including CA Richards & Associates, where he worked until his retirement in 2010.

He was a Life Member and Fellow of the Marine Technology Society. He served as MTS’s Director of Budget and Finance from 1994–1996 and was presented MTS’s Special Commendati­on Award in 2006. He served on the Offshore Technology Conference Board of Directors from 1996–2003, serving as Chairman from 2002 – 2003.

His passions were his family, friends, business, travel, hunting, fishing, cooking, baking bread, and dancing.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and son, David. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Gail Martin and her partner Rick Stein; and son, Charles Richards, Jr. and his wife Judy; his sister-in-law, Jo Lynn Thompson; his four grandchild­ren, Lauren Williams Stanko and her husband Scott, Amy Jennings and her husband John, Heather Williams, Reed Richards and his wife Kay Dee. He is also survived by five greatgrand­children, Charly-Anne Ashworth, Lillianna Williams Stanko, Ava Grace Jennings, John Jennings Jr, and Wren Richards.

A funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 7th of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Pastor LaTaya Simpson, associate pastor of Bellaire United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
