1939-2021

-

Eleanor Napolitano Scalzitti was born and raised in New York City on April 23,1939 and died November 29th 2021. She is pre-deceased by her parents Anthony and Theresa Napolitano.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard J. Scalzitti. She is the mother of two sons, Timothy A. Scalzitti and Peter A. Scalzitti. She has two daughtersin-law, Lynn Wilgenbush and Flavia Scalzitti. She is also the proud grandmother to Anthony C. Scalzitti. She is the older sister of her loving sister Evelyn Forshay. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved and adored.

Eleanor was known among family and friends as “The Energizer Bunny” and was a true “Woman for Others”. In her twenties, Eleanor was a Catholic lay missionary with the Franciscan order in Bolivia. She was a parishioner of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church for over 44 years. Eleanor was an active member of Charity Guild of Catholic Women for 25 years, Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and Cardinal Newman Circle. She was an independent and passionate Italian woman who was a member of Amikedos Club of the Italian Cultural Community Center of Houston.

On the weekends Eleanor would retreat to New Ulm, Texas where she enjoyed country life and became a Lioness of the New Ulm Lions Club. She was also a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry, Texas.

Eleanor was always a New Yorker at heart, and even though her journey in life took her to South America, Europe, the United Kingdom, and throughout the United States, she never left New York City and the borough of Brooklyn. She was always a proud Texan. In addition to her love of God and family, she also loved the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness that defines our country, The United States of America. We will miss her dearly.
