Husband arrested in wife’s death
Police have arrested a 47-yearold man in the death of his wife — who Houston detectives say witnessed him sexually abuse a young relative and told authorities what she saw.
Investigators allege Sean Preston killed his wife, Keysha, the day before Thanksgiving “by unknown manner and means.” According to police, her body has not been found — though authorities think she likely was dismembered after searching a north Houston motel for evidence linked to her death.
One of her sons reported her disappearance on Nov. 29 after getting a disturbing phone call.
The caller alleged that Preston confessed to killing the woman. Officers checked her home and found it empty, locked and with no signs of forced entry.
The woman’s disappearance did not go unnoticed. She failed to show up for a Thanksgiving dinner with her family, police learned.
Investigators spoke to the same caller and learned that Preston asked for “muriatic acid and a ‘throw-down vehicle.’ ” He did not honor Preston’s request, according to police.
Preston called the same person again from the Sheldon Reservoir, according to a search warrant. The two met later that day, and the witness said Preston had scratches on his face — as if he had been in a fight.
Preston then said his wife was “no longer a problem” — and that only three people knew.
“If you don’t want to end up like Keysha, then keep your mouth shut,” Preston said, according to the search warrant.
The search warrant does not mention Preston’s ties to the sexual assault case. Court documents for a sexual assault of a child charge filed Dec. 15 identify Preston’s wife as a witness.
In the sexual assault case, the child told investigators that the abuse happened in December 2020 when Preston repeatedly
touched him inappropriately, often while drunk. He was afraid to stop Preston from doing so because he “would be physically able to beat him in a fight.”
The woman initially told a Special Victims Division investigator that the child warned her about what Preston was doing but she thought the kid “was embellishing.”
She later witnessed Preston molesting the child.
“The witness called police the next day to make a report,” according to court records. The child underwent a medical examination that same day.
Investigators confronted Preston about the sexual assault allegations — which he denied — nine days before his wife’s death, according to prosecutors. He and his wife were in the middle of a divorce, he said.
“He stated that she likes to call in false CPS reports in hopes to stop the divorce,” court records said.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from Motel King, at 3618 Laura Koppe Road, where Preston had been staying and saw him and a woman enter a room on Nov. 24 together. Video later showed him carrying what appeared to be heavy bags to a car.
“He had a difficult time getting the suitcase or duffel bag on wheels down the stairs and had to use both hands to lift it into the trunk of the car,” the search warrant said. Preston left the motel for an hour and returned with the same bags — this time appearing to be lighter in weight.
The woman seen earlier never left the room, investigators said.
Keysha Preston’s mother told police that the woman in the surveillance footage appeared to be her missing daughter.
Police arrested Preston in October on two misdemeanor charges — reckless driving and unlawful carrying of a weapon in a motor vehicle — before releasing him on a general order bond. He was apprehended again Wednesday on the latest charges.
Preston was charged with murder Thursday. He’s being held at Harris County Jail, with bail set at $2 million.
