Trump to return here for first time since loss
Former President Donald Trump is Texas bound.
On Saturday, Trump is scheduled to make his first public appearance in Houston since he lost the White House — a question-and-answer session with former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly at the Toyota Center. The 3 p.m. talk is part of what the two are calling “The History Tour.”
“These will be wonderful but hard-hitting sessions where we’ll talk about the real problems happening in the U.S., those that the Fake News Media never mention,” Trump said in a press release promoting the tour earlier this year.
Last weekend the duo had two stops in Florida, where Trump hinted at another presidential run in 2024 and took jabs at President Joe Biden, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
For Trump, Texas became one of his go-to stops during his presidency, making 18 stops in Texas during his four years in office. Those included post-hurricane recovery visits, trips to the Texas border and several fundraisers.
Trump’s last official presidential visit was to Texas just a week after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.
But in returning to Houston, Trump is in an area that resoundingly opposed his re-election in 2020. Biden won 56 percent of the vote in Harris County — the best showing for a Democratic presidential candidate since Lyndon Baines Johnson in 1964.
Media reports in Florida reported the tour had been beset by lower than expected ticket sales. Tickets are still available for the Houston event ranging from $100 to over $300.
The event starts at 3 p.m. at the Toyota Center.
