Wally, as he was known to family and friends, was a Man of Faith. He was born November 14, 1944 in New Orleans, La. He graduated from East Jefferson High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam conflict. He married his wife, Jan, in 1978 in Austin, Tx., and moved to Houston where they resided until his passing January 1,2022. A devoted husband of 43 years to his wife Jan and wonderful father to their 2 boys, Joseph Starns Kopfler IV and Clark Walden Kopfler. Wally loved his family and was a participan­t in all aspects of their lives. He was an outdoorsma­n who often would spend time hunting and fishing. He passed his love of the outdoors to his sons by taking family trips snow skiing, scuba diving, traveling inside and outside the U.S. He participat­ed in

Boy Scout trips from canoeing the Boundary waters along the Canadian border to Scuba Diving in Mexico. He loved time spent at their ranch. He is a Member of Northwoods Presbyteri­an Church, Woodland Masonic Lodge 1157 and served several years as a Volunteer in the Klein Fire Dept Station 32. He is survived by his wife Jan Kopfler, son Joseph Starns Kopfler IV and sister Karen Ann Smith of Tuscaloosa, Ala. A celebratio­n of Wally’s life will be January 28, 2022, 2:00pm at Northwoods Presbyteri­an Church. Due to new Covid concerns, attendance will be limited to family. Klein Funeral Home will post his obituary photo pages to their webpage for all to enjoy. As a supporter of animal rescue, in lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made in his name to aartexas.org. in Magnolia, a non-kill shelter.
