Martin, Parsons and Diggs All-Pro

-

Guard Zack Martin, cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker Micah Parsons of the Cowboys were named Friday to the 2021 NFL All-Pro Team.

It was Martin’s fifth time on the team and the first for youngsters Diggs and Parsons, with the latter being the only rookie selected.

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, Packers receiver Davante Adams, Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt and Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald were unanimous selections, getting votes from all 50 members of a nationwide panel of media members who cover the league.

Donald is a perennial pick — the three-time Defensive Player of the Year made the team for the seventh time in his eight pro seasons — and Watt, who tied the NFL record for sacks with 22½, is on it for a third time.

Adams made it for the second time, and the other two are newcomers as All-Pros. Kupp led the NFL in receptions (145), yards receiving (1,947) and TD catches (16). Taylor was the top rusher by a landslide with 1,811 yards and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground plus two as a receiver.

Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker, a former UT standout, joined Martin in making his fifth All-Pro team. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers was selected for the fourth time, as was Philadelphia center Jason Kelce — one more than his star tight end brother Travis of the Chiefs.

Colts linebacker Darius Leonard, Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward were named for the third time, while former Texas A&M edge rusher Myles Garrett of the Browns and Titans safety Kevin Byard made their second All-Pro team.

Making their debuts with Parsons and Diggs were 49ers left tackle Trent Williams, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, Buccaneers tackle Tristan Wirfs, Browns guard Joel Bitonio, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, De’Vondre Campbell of Green Bay, Bills safety Jordan Poyer and five special teamers: Las Vegas punter A.J. Cole, Jets kick returner Braxton Berrios, Ravens punt returner Devin Duvernay (Texas), Saints special teams ace J.T Gray, and Colts long snapper Luke Rhodes.

Former Cowboy dies in prison

Ex-Cowboys defensive tackle Junior Siavii, 43, was found dead Thursday in the Leavenworth, Kan., federal prison, where he was being held on charges of illegal firearms possession.

From American Samoa, the 6-5, 315-pound former Oregon lineman was drafted by Kansas City in the second round in 2004 and spent two seasons with the Chiefs. He played for Dallas in 2009 and for Seattle in 2010.
