PEGGY TUTTLE CLONINGER
March 31, 1935 - June 19, 2022
Peggy Tuttle Cloninger was born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 3, 1935. Raised in Charlotte, she was a cheerleader and band member who excelled in Math, which she also studied at Meredith College in Raleigh. While there, she met her beloved husband of 52 years, Ken Cloninger. Together they boldly and happily followed his career around the country, raising two children along the way, eventually settling in Richmond, Texas.
Once her children were grown Peggy returned to school to study Accounting, which she turned into a successful career at Ashford Bank, achieving the position of Vice President.
She had a great sense of humor, and was an avid gardener, bridge player, and Astros baseball fan! Her true passion, however, was her excellent and creative cooking! She never tired of trying new recipes, interspersed with a multitude of old favorites that her family requested often! She shared this talent by teaching her children and grandchildren her favorite techniques and recipes, and she willingly shared her recipes with anyone who asked.
Peggy’s positive example as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be remembered and will influence her family for generations.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her parents, Woodrow and Mildred Tuttle, and her brother Harding “Bubba” Tuttle.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen Valdez (Arturo) of McAllen, her son Kenneth Cloninger (Patricia) of Sugar Land, her grandchildren Nikki Valdez, Lonnie Valdez (Morgan),
William Cloninger, Marjorie Cloninger (AJ Ray), Wesley Cloninger, Jane Cloninger, and her great-grandson Max Cloninger. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Doris Cloninger Williams, and her cousin Kirk Martin (Vicki).
