However, Peña resides on the 10-day injured list with a wrist injury, and Alvarez hasn’t played since leaving Saturday’s game with a hand injury. … The bullpen continues to lead the majors in ERA (2.59) and has five pitchers (minimum 15 innings) with figures at 2.55 or lower: Seth Martinez (0.00), Ryne Stanek (0.78), Rafael Montero (2.03), Bryan Abreu (2.39) and Ryan Pressly (2.55), who has converted 13 of 15 save opportunities. … After this series, the Astros go to New York for four games against the Yankees and two more against the Mets, to be followed by one game at home against the Yankees, a makeup from the delayed start to the season. Mets (45-24) update: New York, whose record trails only the Yankees in all of baseball, has won six of its last eight games. … Entering play Monday, the Mets led MLB with a .288 average with runners in scoring position. … First baseman Pete Alonso (.277/.357/.542) tops the National League with 19 home runs and leads the majors with 64 RBIs. The Mets record for most RBIs before July is 68, set by Hall of Famer Mike Piazza in 2000. … Second baseman Jeff McNeil, who is hitting .358 in June and .327 for the season, left Monday’s win over the Marlins with right hamstring tightness after scoring on a wild pitch. … Shortstop Francisco Lindor (.242/.321/.417) is tied for fourth in the majors with 52 RBIs. On Saturday, he became the first MLB shortstop with 50 in 66 games or fewer since Alex Rodriguez in 2000. … Brandon Nimmo leads the majors with five triples. … The Mets have been hit by pitches an MLB-high 50 times this season. … Closer Edwin Diaz is averaging an MLB-best 17.45 strikeouts per nine innings. He has struck out 49 percent of the batters he’s faced (53 of 109). … Max Scherzer, on the injured list since May 21 with a left oblique strain, will make a rehab start with Class AA Binghamton on Tuesday and could pitch for the Mets as soon as Sunday.
