Alice (Totsy) Crockett Boyd Gano
Born January 16, 1937 in Austin Texas to parents Anne Miller Crockett and Leslie Fowden Crockett. Grandparents Elizabeth Fowden Crockett and Quinn Crockett.
Three children by marriage to Ronald Dean Boyd; Lesli Ann Boyd Berggren, Ronald Dean Boyd, Jr. and Lee Crockett Boyd. Six grandchildren, Carter Boyd, Cameron Boyd, Claire Berggren, Nils Berggren (deceased), Lila Boyd, Scarlett Boyd.
Alice (Totsy) loved hiking, backpacking, swimming, canoeing, and nature. She also loved to garden. She played the first flute, the violin and the piano and enjoyed music and dancing. She was the first head cheerleader of the William B Travis High School, in Austin Texas, and graduated Salutatorian of her class. She was also Valentine Sweetheart and runner up for most friendly and High School Queen. She attended the University of Texas where she graduated with an Arts and Sciences Degree. She was a member of the Honorary Society for Freshman, called Spooks and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Totsy taught swimming and sailing at summer camps, Kickapoo and Camp Longhorn. Totsy was a secondgeneration camper at Camp Waldemar where her mother Anne was one of the founders and her granddaughter Claire was a fourth-generation camper. She was a real estate broker and remodeled and built properties. Totsy was a gifted artist that painted for several years. Totsy had been on the board of many Houston art and music organizations. The family would like to thank all the incredible staff of Austin Hospice for their dedication over the last two years.
Totsy’s family will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” at her favorite Mexican restaurant in Houston later this summer and will be reaching out to her friends once the date is confirmed. Totsy will be laid to rest in Austin next to her parents in a private ceremony.
