Hall’s homer leads Phillies past Cards

PHILADELPH­IA — Darick Hall’s tie-breaking homer was his third straight shot since being called up, and Rhys Hoskins went deep to add an insurance run, leading the Philadelph­ia Phillies to a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Hall broke a 3-all tie in the sixth when he homered off Miles Mikolas (5-6) into the seats in right.

The Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado hit for the cycle. Dodgers 5, Padres 1: Tony Gonsolin allowed one run in 7 2⁄3 innings and Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger homered as Los Angeles won at home. Gonsolin (10-0) became the first 10-game winner in the National League while lowering his major league-leading ERA to 1.54.

White Sox 1, Giants 0: Leury Garcia broke up a scoreless game on an RBI single with two outs in the top of the ninth, and Chicago won at San Francisco.

Cubs 6, Red Sox 5: Rookie Christophe­r Morel homered in his third consecutiv­e game, and Chicago rallied to beat Boston at Wrigley Field.
