KELVIN SAMPSON

Contract expiration: Spring 2027
Base salary: $300,000
Additional compensation: $2.7 million (there is a $100,000 increase each year that UH makes the NCAA Tournament) 2022-23 salary: $3.3 million
If the Cougars make the tournament the final four years of the deal, Sampson would be guaranteed at least $17.5 million with annual salaries of $3.4 million in 2023-24, $3.5 million in 2024-25, $3.6 million in 2025-26 and $3.7 million in 2026-27.
Incentives:
• $25,000: Conference regular season championship (including tie)
• $50,000: NCAA Tournament round of 32 win
• $50,000: Elite Eight win
• $150,000: NCAA championship
• $15,000: NIT championship
• $20,000: Final Top 25 ranking (USA Today coaches and/or Associated Press)
• $10,000: Conference Coach of the Year
• $20,000: National Coach of the Year
• $7.500: GPA of 2.6 or above for scholarship student-athletes
• $10,000: Multiyear team APR rate of 940 or above
• $10,000: Team Graduation Success Rate of 60 percent or above
• $10,000: Season ticket sales (excluding students) exceeding 4,500
Based on a combination of academic and on-field success, Sampson received $142,000 in bonuses for the 2021-22 season.
Other details:
• Sampson is entitled to two courtesy cars or one courtesy car and $800 monthly stipend.
• Complimentary tickets: 12 lower bowl for men’s basketball and six lower bowl for football.
• Country club membership.
• Use of private aircraft for recruiting not to exceed 40 hours during each contract year.
• Charter travel for road and tournament games beyond 250-mile radius from campus.
