Sunday’s game to air on Peacock Premium

Astros fans who’ve had to adjust to alternate platforms to watch the team’s games the past two seasons will encounter another with Sunday’s series finale at Cleveland.

The 11:05 a.m. game between the Astros and Guardians will be streamed exclusively on Peacock Premium, NBC’s streaming service that began carrying Sunday morning games this season.

That means the game will not be aired on AT&T SportsNet Southwest, the Astros’ normal TV home.

But unlike the Astros’ four games that have aired on Apple TV+ this season and were free to watch, the Peacock Plus games are exclusively for subscribers to the service.

Fans in Houston who are Xfinity Flex, Xfinity internet or Digital Starter TV subscribers have free access to Peacock Plus, as both services are owned by Comcast.

Those who are not Xfinity subscribers can sign up for Peacock for $4.99 a month. The Peacock app can be viewed on a variety of devices, and the games also can be viewed in a web browser.

Houston fans who stream Sunday’s game will hear a familiar voice on the broadcast, as Astros TV analyst Geoff Blum will work the game with playby-play announcer Jason Benetti and Guardians analyst Rick Manning. Peacock has paired Benetti with analysts from each team during the Sunday package.

Sunday is the only Astros game in August slated to be on a streaming service. Apple and MLB haven’t announced the September schedule for the Friday night streaming games. The Peacock Plus schedule, which runs through Sept. 4, does not have any more Houston games on it, although that is subject to change.

Over the past two seasons, the Astros have had games exclusively streamed on YouTube, Apple TV+ and now Peacock Plus. In 2017, two Astros games were streamed on Facebook, but those games also were aired on the team’s regional cable network.

For those unable to watch on Peacock, the Astros’ game also will be broadcast on 790 AM and in Spanish on 93.3 FM and 1010 AM.

It will be joined in progress on 740 AM at 7 p.m.
