Henry Mark Rosenblum passed away on February 4, 2023 following a battle with lung cancer.

Henry was born January 23, 1942 in Tyler, Texas to Sylvia and Marcelo Rosenblum. Henry graduated from Bellaire High School, Tulane University, where he was a member of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and UT Law School. In 1964, he married Phyllis Ravel.

Henry and Phyllis moved to Houston in 1971, where Henry opened a law practice and was active in the ACLU. While he primarily represente­d people of color and women, his most notable case, McDonald v. Santa Fe Trail Transp. Co., was a reverse discrimina­tion case resulting in a landmark Supreme Court decision. In 1981, Henry opened Apple Travel with Phyllis, his sister Marilynn Eisenberg, and his mother Sylvia Rosenblum. With its “Please go away!” tagline, it became one of Houston’s largest travel agencies.

Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter Elyse Rosenblum & Matthew Pawa; his son Marc Rosenblum & Katie Sellers; his daughter Yvonne Cosgrove & John Cosgrove; and his sister Marilynn Eisenberg & Al Eisenberg. The highlight of his final years were his six grandchild­ren: Zach, Hazel, Phyllis, Iris, Jake and Phoebe.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074.
