Houston restaurants go all in with flavorful seafood during Lent

- By John-Henry Perera STAFF WRITER

The fishiest part of the liturgical year is finally upon us.

As Houston’s Christian population makes the move to abstain from red meat during Lent, local restaurants are highlighting delicious seafood on their menus. Here are some of standout spots.

Gatlin’s Fins & Feathers

Gatlin’s BBQ’s sister restaurant opened recently in Independence Heights with a focus on fried chicken and, yes, seafood. That includes a crispy fish sandwich and fried catfish, of course. The menu also features plenty of shareables, including charbroiled oysters, barbecue shrimp and campechana.
