Acuna hits 2 HRs as Braves stay hot

ATLANTA — Ronald Acuña Jr. hit two of Atlanta’s five homers — all in the first two innings — and the power-hitting Braves beat Joe Ryan and the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Atlanta hit five homers in its first 10 at-bats and has 54 this month, only two shy of the franchise record for any month set with 56 in June 2019. The NL Eastleadin­g Braves have won four straight and 12 of 13.

Mets 7, Brewers 2: Brandon Nimmo homered twice and David Peterson threw six scoreless innings in his return to the majors as struggling New York beat visiting Milwaukee, hours after Mets owner Steve Cohen announced plans to hold a press conference on the state of the team. The Mets won for just the third time in 10 games and for the sixth time in 22 games.

Giants 3, Blue Jays 0: Thairo Estrada had a tworun double and scored a run as San Francisco beat host Toronto for its 13th victory in 15 games.

Rangers 8, Tigers 3: Ezequiel Duran’s solo home run into the second deck in left sparked a five-run eighth inning as Texas topped visiting Detroit.

Phillies 5, Cubs 1: Brandon Marsh homered twice and drove in three runs, helping Philadelph­ia beat Chicago at Wrigley Field for its second straight win.

Pirates 9, Padres 4: Rookie Nick Gonzales homered and tripled in his first home game, and Pittsburgh broke out of an offensive funk to drill San Diego.

Diamondbac­ks 8, Rays 4: Corbin Carroll and Christian Walker hit back-to-back homers in a fiverun first, and host Arizona beat Tampa Bay.

Reds 3, Orioles 1: Andrew Abbott threw six innings of one-run ball, and Matt McLain and TJ Friedl both homered to lift Cincinnati to a win at Baltimore.

Dodgers 5, Rockies 0: Clayton Kershaw carried a no-hitter into the sixth, J.D. Martinez homered twice for his 300th, and Los Angeles beat host Colorado.

Angels 4, White Sox 2: Shohei Ohtani homered twice and struck out 10 batters while pitching into the seventh, helping Los Angeles top visiting Chicago.

Athletics 2, Yankees 1: Paul Blackburn pitched into the sixth inning to help Oakland edge New York.

Marlins 10, Red Sox 1: Bryan De La Cruz hit a two-run homer, and Miami beat host Boston.

Guardians 2, Royals 1: Will Brennan hit a two-run double in the ninth as Cleveland won at Kansas City.
