Ada Michaels Perwien passed away peacefully at her home in Houston on Friday, July 7, 2023. She was born in the small town of Owatonna, Minnesota, where she lived before moving to the Twin Cities. There she attended college and met Ed Perwien, her husband of 68 years. She lived a beautiful, long life, always giving generously of herself. Those who were fortunate enough to be in her presence would experience her boundless warmth and kindness.

Ada and Ed were very involved with American Saddlebred horses. They attended many events where Ada naturally became the “Horse Show Mom” to all.

Her interests included needlepoint, knitting, gardening, cooking, playing Mah Jongg, reading, traveling, and horses, of course. She had leadership roles in numerous horse organizations, the neighborhood garden club, Project Head Start, Cub Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls. She was a member of Houston Rose Society, Hadassah, and Temple Sisterhood.

Ada valued family above all else. She raised four children and hosted numerous foreign exchange students. Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Mark and wife Laurie Goodman, Diane and husband Greg Thelen, Richard and wife Tica, Elly and husband Dr. Phil Berman, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She had numerous loving nieces and nephews. Ada was proceeded in death by her husband Ed and her beloved sister Harriet Glassman.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Jousey Camarda, Crystal Taylor, and Angela Willis for providing loving care and support to Ada in her later years.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Beth Israel Memorial Garden, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston, TX 77055.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
