Next year’s rodeo, including concerts, to get an earlier start
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will get a slightly earlier start next year — on weekends.
For 2024, Saturday and Sunday shows will kick off at 2:45 p.m. instead of 3:45 p.m. NRG Stadium gates will open at 2 p.m.
The entertainer will also take the stage an hour earlier, around 5 p.m. The change, according to organizers, is to allow guests to spend more time on the grounds after the weekend performances. That means more time to ride the Ferris wheels and stand in line for corn dogs.
Weekday performances will remain the same: 6:45 p.m. rodeo events and approximately 9 p.m. performance.
A limited number of 2024 season tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 1 at rodeohouston.com. Season tickets start at $500 and include all 20 performances for the season. The online waiting room opens at 9:30 a.m. A place in virtual line does not guarantee tickets.
The 2024 Houston Rodeo runs Feb. 27 to March 17. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date, along with the 2024 entertainer lineup.
Other Rodeo updates:
• The 21st annual Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition will begin accepting entries Aug. 1. All entries must be distributed in Texas and commercially available during the 2024 show. A complete list of requirements is available at rodeohouston.com.
• Applications for retail booths in NRG Center and food vendors on the grounds will close Aug. 15.
Last month, RodeoHouston was named fair/rodeo of the year by the Academy of Country Music as part of its industry awards.
More than 2.4 million people attended the 2023 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Park, slightly above the previous year. The 2023 lineup included New Kids on the Block, Bun B’s Southern Takeover and La Fiera de Ojinaga.
