Cincy rallies past slumping Seattle

CINCINNATI — Nick Martini came off the bench to hit a game-tying three-run homer run in the eighth inning and Christian Encarnació­n-Strand drove in Elly De La Cruz in the ninth and the Cincinnati Reds came from behind for a 7-6 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

Julio Rodríguez hit two home runs for the Mariners (77-61), who have lost three straight for the first time since August 12-14 and fell out of first place, a game behind the Astros.

Blue Jays 7, Athletics 1: Chris Bassitt allowed one run in eight strong innings and Toronto took sole possession of the third AL wild card spot.

Rays 8, Red Sox 6 (11): Brandon Lowe belted a three-run home run off closer Kenley Jansen as Tampa Bay rallied past visiting Boston.

Twins 8, Guardians 3: Jorge Polanco hit a sacrifice fly and Donovan Solano added a three-run triple in a five-run eighth inning as visiting Minnesota pushed its lead in the AL Central to seven games over secondplac­e Cleveland.

Brewers 7, Pirates 3: Brandon Woodruff pitched seven shutout innings and Mark Canha’s two-run single capped a six-run fifth inning as NL Centrallea­ding Milwaukee won in Pittsburgh.

Cubs 11, Giants 8: Seiya Suzuki and Christophe­r Morel homered during a six-run seventh inning in host Chicago’s third consecutiv­e win.

Cardinals 10, Braves 6: Tyler O'Neill and Nolan Gorman hit two-run homers to spoil Michael Soroka's promotion to Atlanta.
