Remember 9/11

-

Regarding “The U.S. marks 22 years since 9/11 with tributes and tears, from ground zero to Alaska,” (Sept. 10): Shocked, not shocked, that the Chronicle barely mentioned one word about the anniversary of 9/11. I understand that probably, hopefully, you will later mention the anniversary ceremonies that occurred across our great nation … but what about on the actual anniversary date?

So many Americans were mourning. But don’t worry, we got to read that “Phoenix’s heat wave may have an end in sight” on your Nation and World page! Really?

Show some respect for a day that changed our country and world. It brought us together as Americans, which sadly, never seems to happen anymore. Come on Chronicle, do better!

DeeDee Wheeler, Magnolia

After reading such a thoughtful, patriotic and poignant Sunday article about the return of a World War II hero (“Returning home at last”) I was shocked while reading today’s paper. There was not one Chronicle article about the darkest day in modern U.S. history! The 22nd anniversary of the attack and slaughter of the innocent on 9/11.

Unfathomable. Edward A. Vesely, Houston

I haven’t lived in Houston for many years but continue to read the online version of the Chronicle, notwithstanding its left-leaning editorials. The only mention of the 9/11 attack on America in today’s edition was a small reference in the “Looking Back” column. This I find totally disgusting. Jim Gayle, Haleiwa, Hawaii

No front-page headline of “Remembering 9/11.” Shame on you.

Toby Newman, Houston

Regarding “Fact check: Ted Cruz says President Biden is trying to ‘limit you to two beers per week’,” (Sept. 11): Here it is, Sept. 11, a date we should all remember with reverence.

Instead we have our illustrious junior senator again spreading lies that the Democrats, the liberals, the haters of freedom and Joe “the devil himself ” Biden are going to limit our beer consumption to two a week.

Anyone who believes this claptrap gets what they deserve. It really is next to impossible to believe that there are adults alive today who fall for this nonsense from the right, but sadly, there are.

And before some of you bozos out there send me letters, please hurry and drink your two beers before it’s too late.

Ted, even from you, and especially on the anniversary of 9/11, I would have hoped for better. Steve Stringer, Houston
