Iowa Colony ties for district title

Iowa Colony’s Jarvis Solomon picked off a pass with less than a minute left in the end zone as No. 5-ranked Iowa Colony pulled off a huge road win at No. 10 Bay City, 28-27, Friday night in District 12-4A Division I.

Iowa Colony (9-0, 5-0), in just its second varsity season, clinches at least a share of the district championsh­ip.

The Black Cats (6-3, 3-2) took a 27-21 lead with 5:05 left on a 10 yard reception by Xylan Williams from quarterbac­k Alex Estrada.

DICKINSON 34 CLEAR CREEK 0

Dickinson clinched the District 24-6A championsh­ip t with a win over playoff contender Clear Creek.

Dickinson (8-1, 5-0) has won eight straight games and the victory was No. 100 for head coach John Snelson.

Clear Creek (6-3, 3-2) clinched a playoff spot with Clear Brook’s loss.

PEARLAND 56 STRAKE JESUIT 7

The Oilers were dominant as they remain in pursuit of a District 23-6A title with a rout of the Crusaders at The Rig.

The Oilers (6-2, 5-1) remain in a three-way tie for first heading into Week 11 as Dawson beat Elsik and Shadow Creek topped Alief Taylor Friday night.

Strake Jesuit (3-6, 3-3) clinched the final playoff spot with those losses by Elsik.

HIGHTOWER 71 CLEMENTS 13

Hightower officially clinched a playoff spot for the seventh straight season after a home win over Clements t at Hall Stadium.

The Hurricanes (8-1, 6-1) are in second place in District 20-6A and have won four straight games.

Bush (3-6, 2-5) came in off a win over Bush last week that snapped a three-game slide.

KATY 66, SEVEN LAKES 7

Katy took claim of the outright District 19-6A title after a 66-7 win over Seven Lakes t at Legacy Stadium.

The Tigers (8-1, 7-0), ranked No. 8 in the state poll, adds to its district title collection with its 36th in program history.

Seven Lakes (2-7, 1-6) has dropped four straight heading into its season finale against Cinco Ranch, 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Rhodes Stadium.

PAETOW 13 KATY TAYLOR 10

Katy Taylor’s district title hopes came to a halt at Rhodes Stadium.

Paetow picked up just its second win of the season in a 13-10 decision over the second-place Mustangs.

Katy Taylor (5-4, 5-2) had won four straight coming in and were hoping to play Katy next Friday with a share of the district title.

The Panthers (2-7, 2-5) scored 13 unanswered points with Kaleb Molina’s fourth quarter run setting the final score.

WESTFIELD 78, DAVIS 21

Running back Taji Atkins scored seven total touchdowns as Westfield thumped to finish off the District 14-6A championsh­ip at Planet Ford Stadium.

Westfield (7-2, 6-0) has won six straight games and the district title is 17th in program history.

Davis (4-5, 2-4) was eliminated with the loss despite the fact the Eagles were down 28-21 in the second quarter.

BRIDGELAND 56 CYPRESS LAKES 0

Bridgeland clinched at least a share of the District 16-6A title with a win over Cypress Lakes at Pridgeon Stadium.

Under new head coach Lonnie Madison, the Bears (7-1, 6-0) have now won their third district title in the program’s short history.

Jett Lewis threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns.

FULSHEAR 30, MANVEL 26

Fulshear held off an upset-minded Manvel to clinch at least a share of the District 10-5A Division I title after a win at Traylor Stadium.

The Chargers (9-0, 7-0), ranked No. 5 in the state poll, has a halfgame lead on Magnolia.

Manvel (4-5, 3-4) saw its playoff streak end at 13 years with the loss.
