Ex-Oiler Moon earns spot in Houston Sports Hall

Former Oilers quarterbac­k Warren Moon has been selected to the Houston Sports Hall of Fame, the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority announced.

Moon, who played for the Oilers from 1984-93 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, is the third member of this year’s class, joining former Comets star Cynthia Cooper and former Astro Lance Berkman. The three will be inducted in January.

“The caliber of athletes that have come out of this city … I don’t think there are too many cities that can compare,” Moon said in a press release. “It’s just an outstandin­g honor for me.”

Moon was the NFL's offensive player of the year in 1990. He is the Oilers’ all-time leader in passing touchdowns, yards, attempts and completion­s.

HOCKEY Arrest made in player’s death

Police in England arrested a man on suspicion of manslaught­er in the death of American hockey player Adam Johnson, whose neck was cut by a skate during a game.

Johnson, 29, was playing for Nottingham against Sheffield on Oct. 28 when he was struck by an opponent’s skate blade in an Elite Ice Hockey League game.

Matt Petgrave, 31, who plays for Sheffield, was the other player involved in the grisly incident.

Cheered on by a raucous home crowd at Turin,

Italy, Jannik Sinner recorded his first win over top-ranked Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals.

Sinner triumphed 7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (2) in a match of more than three hours.

It ended the Djokovic’s 19-match winning streak that dated to his five-set loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.

Earlier, Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew from the ATP Finals with a back injury after playing only three games, handing Holger Rune the victory.

Hayes takes over in May: The U.S. Soccer Federation confirmed Emma Hayes will lead the women’s national team, saying the 47-yearold Chelsea coach will become the highest-paid women’s soccer coach in the world but won’t start her tenure in earnest until May — just two months before the Paris Olympics. Twila Kilgore will continue in her interim role.
