Ninfa’s debuts cannabis-infused margarita
For 4/20, the holiday of cannabis enthusiasts, the Original Ninfa’s and 8th Wonder Cannabis have concocted a first-of-its-kind cocktail for the TexMex restaurant.
The Tranquilita Margarita, debuting on Saturday, April 20, is a cannabis-infused drink without alcohol. It combines 8th Wonder’s new product, Ocho Verde Cannabis Spirit, with Cut Above’s Zero Proof Agave Blanco. Each $15 drink will have 4 mg of THC. The cocktail will be available at both Ninfa’s locations.
“Introducing the Tranquilita Margarita with Ninfa’s, featuring 8th Wonder’s Ocho Verde — a nonalcoholic cannabis spirit — marks a significant change. This effort merges Ninfa’s tradition with our cannabis know-how, reshaping the adult beverage scene and integrating cannabis with a focus on quality and customer experience,” said Ben Meggs, CEO of Bayou City Hemp. “I can’t wait to enjoy a tasty Tranquilita Margarita alongside an iconic Ninfa’s fajita.”
Locally owned 8th Wonder Cannabis and parent company Bayou City Hemp have been at the forefront of introducing cannabis products into the mainstream. The outlet was the first in Texas to create a hemp-derived THC canned drink in 2021. While it has created a line of other canned THC drinks, Ocho Verde is its first liquor-like product with a higher dosage of THC. It is a step for the company into elevated bars.
THC drinks are possible under the federal 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized the commercial production of hemp products, and Texas’ HB1325, which allowed CBD products to be put in food and beverages.
