Juan Sebastián Marroquín Santos has now asked almost all of his father’s victims for forgiveness and has reconciled with many of them. Despite his bloody reign, Pablo Escobar is revered by many Colombians even to this day as a kind of Robin Hood. But this is precisely what his son continues to fight against. He has written a book about his memories of his father and has also participated in making a documentary film about him. But in all interviews he resists glorifying his father. “I want people— and especially young people— to understand that such a story should never be repeated,” says the 38-year-old. Since August 28, 2015, the Narcos series has been available on Netflix, and season 1 details Pablo Escobar’s brutal life.
