FHAUVINNG AT WORK WILL MOTIVATE YOU

-

“The belief that only those who are having fun can be motivated has now become totally outdated— that is to say: It’s complete nonsense,” contends Steffen Kirchner. “Ask any professional athlete, actor, or top manager— not one will tell you that the job is always fun.” And the same holds true for any other profession. But if it’s not fun, then what does motivate us? “The most important requirement for maintaining long-term motivation is success,” says Kirchner. And the road to success is not usually that much fun— it involves great effort. Therefore, in order to keep our level of motivation running high, it is not altogether that important for us to do something we like, but rather something we can do well and thus succeed at. Kirchner believes it’s important to have a good understand of your strengths and to apply them specifically to each area: “Average people focus on mastering as many things as possible— champions focus on being at the top of one field.”
