KENNETH EUGENE “GENE” WILLIAMS

Kenneth “Gene” Williams, 73, lifetime resident of Imperial, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016.

Gene was born January 19, 1943 to Truman Gilford and Dorothy Heath Williams. Gene lived his whole life in Imperial, attending Imperial Schools and graduating from Imperial High in 1960. He later married Yvonne (Bonnie) Randall on December 18, 1971.

He had a strong work ethic, which was reflected through his 45 years working at IID until his retirement in 2005. He then started on his new career of grandpa. Umpa shuttled kids to and from school and helped watch them while his children worked.

His passions included working on hot rods and classic cars, building stock cars and attending car races. He was a baseball and race car enthusiast. He coached little league baseball when his oldest grandson played. He had a thirst for knowledge and would design and build his ideas just to challenge himself to see if he could do it! He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes and spending time with his grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert L. Williams, and his son Ronald Eugene Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie; his children, Jennifer (Troy) Boquist, Jeanette Williams, Kenneth (Veronica) Williams, Kevin (Stephanie) Williams, his sister Vickie (Ernie) Kirby; sister-in-law, Carol Williams; nine grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Event Center, 771 Park Ave. El Centro, CA at 11 a.m.
