Energy Summit serves as reminder of Valley’s value

-

On Wednesday through Friday, the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation held its 10th annual Renewable Energy Summit at the Imperial Palms in Holtville.

The energy summit brought some big names and companies in the renewable energy businesses that provided insight on new technology, future plans and importance of renewable energy.

As Tim Kelley, president and chief executive officer of the IVEDC, noted during a speech Thursday, he said the first year the event was held the summit included big names that were making headlines in the renewable energy at the time, but nobody from the Imperial Valley wanted to attend.

It has grown to include big organizations in the energy sector with the help from the Imperial Irrigation District since the first day.

This year’s summit had Sen. Ben Hueso, Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, Secretary of Natural Resources John Laird and more.

Congratulations to the IVEDC on a successful summit that was both informative and important to the renewable energy production in the Imperial Valley.

There’s a reason why the Imperial Valley is leading the renewable energy race in the country and the IVEDC has been in the middle of it.
