Wildcats nab league win
BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High softball team opened Imperial Valley League action at home on Friday night hosting Southwest High here.
The Wildcats recorded a 7-3 win to improve to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in league action.
For the Eagles, Sadriena Rodriguez suffered the loss and recorded three strikeouts.
Offensively for Southwest Lesley Solano had two hits, Rodriguez had a double with a RBI, Arianna Izaguirre had a double with two RBIs and Iliana Manzano and Victoria Cruz each had hits.
The Eagles move to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in IVL play.
For Brawley, Haylee Garcia went 3-3 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.
Savannah Contreras went 2-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.
Savannah Estrada went 2-4 and two runs scored.
Alysia Gallardo and Lilliana Martinez each had a hit and a run scored.
Taylor Carranza and Giselle Padilla each had a hit.
Also for the Wildcats, Aubrey Ruelas picked up the win in the circle pitching 4 2/3 innings, scattering four hits, walking three and recording two strikeouts.
Elena Rodriguez earned the save pitching 2 1/3 innings, giving up two hits, walking one and recording one strikeout.
Both teams return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with Brawley hosting Palo Verde Valley and Southwest hosting Imperial.
