Wildcats hold own against Escondido
BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High swim team hosted Escondido in a tough nonleague meet here on Friday afternoon.
The Brawley boys fell 110-60, while the girls were edged 87-82.
For the Wildcats, Ross Wilson took first in the 200 free finishing in 1 minute, 55.19 seconds, to break a school record that had been in place since 2007.
Wilson also took first in the 100 breast winning in 1:05.72.
For the girls, Larissa Avina, Logan Nemlowill, Jessica Acosta and Paige Smelser combined to win the 200-medely relay and the 200 free relay in 2:06.56 and 1:50.32, respectively.
Acosta also took first in the 100 butterfly (1:04.63) and the 200 free (2:07.69), while Avina took first in the 50 free (26.61).
