Wildcats make CIF times

BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High swim team hosted Southwest and Vincent Memorial highs in a tri-meet here Tuesday afternoon.

Each squad had athletes take home first place in at least one event.

For the Brawley boys, Ross Wilson won the 100 butterfly in 55.98, breaking yet another school record, his third this season and fifth overall.

Wilson’s time in the butterfly was also an automatic qualifying time for CIF. The senior was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1 minute, 54 seconds) with Brandon Castro, Alec Walker and Brandon Goddard that earned a CIF considerat­ion time

Goddard, Castro, Wilson and Brian Murray also worked to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:42.45, another CIF considerat­ion time.

For Southwest, Sergio Beltran won the 200 free in 2:04.58, the 100 free in 53:59 and was part of the winning 200 free relay (1:43.49) with Eric Pompa Nicholas Santana and Jonathan Puga.

Also for the Eagles, William Waters won the 100 breast in 1:17.62.

For Vincent Memorial, Omar Girbua won the 200 individual medley in 2:17.74.

For the Wildcats girls, Jessica Acosta won the 200 free and the 100 free in 2:09.05 and 59.37, respective­ly, which are both CIF considerat­ion times.

Logan Nemlowill won the 50 free in 27.62, a CIF considerat­ion time, and the 100 breast (1:20.46).

Acosta and Nemlowill teamed with Paige Smelser and Larissa Avina to win the 200 medley relay in 2:06.48 and 400 free relay in 4:04.78, which are both CIF considerat­ion times.

For the Eagles, Samanthan Pena Ayon, Miriam Ceja, Demmy Perez and Cabanillas won the 200 relay in 1:59.65, while Vincent Memorial’s Renee Birbua won the 200 individual medley (2:28.95).
