Wildcats defeat San Ysidro

BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High baseball team defeated San Ysidro as part of a double-header here on Saturday.

The Wildcats took the first game 9-3 and the second 5-4.

Blake Zeleny earned the win in the first game throwing 6 1/3 innings, giving up six hits, two earned runs and recording nine strikeouts.

At the plate, Mark Cisneros went 1-1 with a double, one RBI and one run scored, Angel Fonseca went 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Jacob Sapp went 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored.

In the second game, Alex Hernandez earned the win going four innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs.

Offensively for Brawley, Dylan Reina went 3-4 with one RBI and a double, Jonathan Gonzalez went 2-4 with one run scored and two RBIs, Robert Brodell went 1-1 with one RBI and Casey Kline went 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored.

The Wildcats improve to 7-3 overall and return to action at 6 p.m. today traveling to face Palo Verde Valley in Imperial Valley League action.

Wildcats suffer tourney losses

CHULA VISTA — The Brawley Union High softball team competed in the Falcon Fiesta at Eastlake High School here on Saturday.

The Wildcats fell 5-2 to Bishop’s and 5-0 to Eastlake.

Against Bishop’s Alysia Gallardo went 2-3 with two RBIs and Elena Rodriguez went 2-3.

Savannah Contreras and Daisy Varela each had a hit for Brawley.

Rodriguez took the loss in the circle, pitching five innings, giving up three earned runs, seven hits and recording three strikeouts. Lilliana Martinez pitched an inning in relief, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Against Eastlake, Contreras, Savannah Estrada and Taylor Carranza each had a hit.

Aubrey Ruelas took the loss pitching three innings, giving up two earned runs, five hits and tallying three strikeouts.

Martinez pitched three innings in relief, giving up one earned run, three hits and striking out one.

The Wildcats move to 3-6 overall and return to the field at 6:30 p.m. today traveling to face Holtville High.
