IVC to host alumni tourney
IMPERIAL — The Imperial Valley College volleyball program will be hosting an inaugural All-Imperial Valley Volleyball Alumni Tournament on Saturday here.
Registration for teams will begin at 7:30 a.m., with tournament games starting at 9 a.m. Matches are best of three with participation cost set at $20 per player.
Solo players are encouraged to attend and will be arranged or assigned to a team.
Cost for spectators is $1.
SOFTBALL IVC wins in 11
SAN BERNARDINO — The Imperial Valley College softball team worked to defeat San Bernardino 5-2 in 11 innings during a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference stunner here on Tuesday afternoon.
Earning the win in the circle was Maritza Rojas, who threw 11 innings, gave up three walks, zero earned runs and recorded four strikeouts.
Offensively Rojas finished 2-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Also for IVC, Melannie Ibarra went 5-6 with a triple, double and one RBI, Claudia Gasca also went 5-6 with one RBI and Celeste Bernal went 2-5 with a solo home-run and one RBI.
Victoria Martinez went 1-2 with two sac bunts and Sinclaire May went 1-3.
The Arabs improve to 18-7 overall and 9-5 in conference action and return to the field at 1 p.m. today to host PCAC-leading Palomar.
