Howard Williams could see his Brawley Union High School 100yard dash record of 9.8 seconds tied or broken this year if Xen Jones’ sprint star Herbert Robinson has anything to say about it.

The Williams record dash was recorded in 1948. Robinson, currently in the Southern California Interscholastic Federation finals, has a 9.9 clocking to his credit. He still has a chance to tie or crack the Williams’ mark.

Herbert leads Valley athletes into the SCIF finals at Mt. San Antonio College tomorrow.

Others competing will be Willie Robinson of Central Union High School in the Cee 110 and 180 and Gary Mullins of Central in the C 660. John Smith of Blythe will run the A 180 low hurdles.

Four years of superior competition have seen Robinson, an 18-yearold senior, leave his mark at Brawley.

The Wildcat thinclad has helped tie or break five records during his junior and senior years.

The Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to contract a San Francisco management consulting firm to investigate Joseph Wahl and his administration of the county Health Department.

Supervisors unanimously followed the Grand Jury’s recommendation to contract Booz-Allen & Hamilton Inc., even though its $48,000 proposal was higher than three other firms that bid on the project.

The study, which is expected to begin in the next few weeks, was proposed by the Grand Jury after numerous criticisms of the county Health Department came to light.

Most recently, the department administration was attacked by the Grand Jury for its failure to correct deficiencies in the ambulance and paramedic program.

LA QUINTA — Imperial Irrigation District directors Tuesday reiterated that the district’s Coachella Valley power facilities are not for sale.

Meanwhile, IID staff and an energy consultant discussed the likelihood of potential and existing industrial customers generating power on their own.

The IID directors responded to the renewed acquisition efforts of Coachella Valley energy, a Rancho Mirage energy developer and provider.

Coachella Valley Energy officials are looking to form a joint powers authority with the city of Indio to negotiate buying IID’s Riverside County power assets.

They presented their proposal Thursday to the Indio Economic Development Advisory Council.

Coachella Valley Energy failed last fall in a similar try. The IID board passed a resolution in October opposing the sale of any district power facilities. The IID provides power to the eastern Coachella Valley as well as most of Imperial County and part of northeastern San Diego County.
