LESLIE JOHN “SPARKY” CARR

Leslie John “Sparky” Carr was born on October 25, 1947 in Endicott, New York. He entered into his heavenly home on May 5, 2017.
Leslie was the middle son of Don and Christine (Hughes) Carr. After a childhood growing up in Endicott, he graduated from Endicott High School in 1965. He was an officer for Onondaga County Sherriff’s Department and later became a cross-county truck driver with routes from Florida to California.
Sparky married Shirley Corey and they had two daughters. In 1977, he opened Sparky’s Garage in Holtville, California. After several years as an auto mechanic, he used his skills in the produce industry, and later held supervisory positions for various companies in the Visalia area.
In 1985, Sparky married Alice Chandler in Holtville, California. At that time he also gained another daughter and a son. Together, they raised their four children and experienced a wonderful life together that included welcoming 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Sparky was loved by all who knew him and appreciated for his marvelous sense of humor. He was a follower of Jesus who was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Sparky loved to fish, tell tall tales, and spend time with the family he adored.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine, in 2002 and his father, Don, in 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice Carr; children, Betty (Jim) Predmore, Pam Carr, Patricia Vargas, and Norman (Stacie) Chandler. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren: Cody Acosta, Lorraine Lay, Alison Rodriguez, Breana Vargas, Nick Acosta, Angie Lay, Cassie Acosta, Jonathan Vargas, Emily Acosta, Kali Orff, Miles Orff, Stacia Brown, Marquia Horney, Bryan Predmore, Jovanney Predmore, and Lizbeth Predmore, along with his 8 great-grandchildren. In addition, Sparky leaves brothers Don Carr and Kenny Carr, nephews Jim and Jeff Carr, and niece Kim Carr Griffith.
