Murder suspect captured by CBP officers.
On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico downtown port of entry took a 21-year-old fugitive into custody who was wanted on felony charges for the murder of a 16-year-old girl.
The incident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. when Angel Delgado, a U.S. citizen and resident of Fontana, was escorted on foot to the downtown port by Mexican law enforcement officials, stated a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release.
CBP officers working the port’s pedestrian facility took custody of the man and conducted a query of the man’s fingerprints utilizing the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System confirming his identity, which revealed that he was the subject of a felony warrant issued by the Superior Court of California-County of San Bernardino.
After the warrant was confirmed, the man was turned over to the custody of San Bernardino Police Department detectives and transported to the San Bernardino County Jail, stated the press release.
Agents with the state Preventive Police department arrested Angel Delgado, 21, at Roberto Montenegro Street at Fraccionamiento Los Alamos neighborhood.
International Liaison Rodolfo Luna said the Marshals Service provided information regarding Delgado’s whereabouts.
The suspect had an active arrest warrant out of San Bernardino for the 2012 homicide of a 16-year-old girl in Fontana. Delgado presumably shot a family that was holding a party in a park. Luna said the attack was gang related.
