Dynamo girls’ soccer clubs celebrate tournament victories.

This weekend, a pair of teams from the Dynamo El Centro Soccer Club competed in two separate tournament­s, with each squad bringing home firstplace trophies.

The Girls’ 2001 Orange team competed in the San Diego Charity Cup, while the Girls’ 2000 team played in the Rebels Cup.

The 2001 team opened the Charity Cup with a 5-0 win over Matrix on Saturday morning.

All five goals came off the foot of Dayleth Palacios, who finished the tourney with a total of eight goals and one assist.

Later on Saturday, the team faced FFSC Waddell and earned a 3-1, with Palacios booting in two goals.

On Sunday morning, the 2001 team played to a 1-1 tie with CSC, with Palacios providing the assist.

Later that day, Dynamo faced CSC again in the final and this time earned a 3-1 victory.

Palacios scored one goal in the final to lead her squad in scoring during the tourney.

The 2000 team also advanced to play final in a final on Sunday after going undefeated in pool play.

On Saturday, the 2000 team opened with a 2-0 win over Rebels SC, followed by a 4-0 win against Liverpool.

On Sunday morning the team defeated Riptide Blue 2-0 to advance to the final to face Rebels SC once again.

In a tough and back-andforth final, the 2000 team worked to record a 6-2 win.

The local squad scored first within the opening 10 minutes of the game, yet the Rebels came back and tied the game, sending the game into the half with a 1-1 score.

The 2000 team opened the second half strong, going up 3-1, before the Rebels came back again to score making it a 3-2 game.

The goal sparked the local players into a strong finish as they went up to score three more goals to win 6-2.

“I’m so proud of my girls, who played great soccer and deserve this championsh­ip,” said head coach Carlos Lopez. “We ended the tournament with 14 goals in favor and only two against.”

Lopez credited his Dynamo defenders and goalie that only allowed two goals and to all the girls who scores especially Jocelyn Flores, who score five goals and Jewel McLaughlin for her hat-trick in one of the games.

“I’m extremely happy for my team, it’s a good start for them, considerin­g we recently lost five key players, who aged out and are now headed to college,” Lopez explained. “Things are looking good for the team and we will continue working hard and to be ready for season.”

Lopez thanked assistant coach Edgar Mendez and all the parents for their support.
