Laudell Dupree, long time resident of Brawley, died peacefully with faith in God on May 19, 2017, at the home of his loving daughter Fleeta in Fair Oaks, CA.

He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Calvert attack transport ship. While in Brawley, CA, he worked for Orita Land & Cattle Company for 35 years, and raised his five children. Most of his friendship­s centered around the cattle feed business and playing golf at Del Rio Country Club. In 1987, after retiring from Orita he moved with his wife to Salinas, CA. While in Salinas, he enjoyed watching his grandchild­ren on the soccer field and in musical performanc­es. When not with family, he could be found playing golf at Salinas Fairways where he was known to be one of the first players out in the early morning. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed volunteeri­ng to set up tables and chairs for serving meals to the homeless. He was a loving husband and father who did his best to provide for his family.

He was preceded in death by his five siblings: Louis Dupree, Dennis Dupree, Nell Rankin, Fleeta Hopkins, and Gene Dupree. He was happily married to Martha (Bidwell) Dupree, of Little Rock, AK, for 52 years, until her passing in 1995.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Dell & Carl Hinshaw (El Centro, CA), Fleeta & Vic Anderson (Fair Oaks, CA), Glen and Sylvia Dupree (Salinas, CA), Margaret & Rick Pritt (Salinas, CA), and Suzy and Brian Schneider (Fairfield, CA), and adopted daughter Martha Lynn Hymson (Las Vegas, NV); along with 11 grandchild­ren, including Carla Paramo (Imperial, CA), Jon Hinshaw (El Centro, CA) and 15 great grandchild­ren. Also included in the number of people that loved him and will miss him are several nephews and nieces, and extended family members and friends.

A private interment ceremony with military honors will be held at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside, CA. His family suggests that those who would like to honor Laudell Dupree, to make a donation in his memory to the First United Methodist Church, 404 Lincoln Avenue, Salinas, CA 93901.
