Building on Main Street reportedly burglarized

-

Two El Centro residents were arrested Wednesday night for suspicion of breaking into a building on Main Street, stated El Centro Police Department call logs.

The two suspects allegedly broke a front window to the building in the 500 block of Main Street and gained entry, stated call logs.

The building itself contains multiple suites although the specific suite the suspects reportedly broke into was empty and was previously occupied by ICU Optical, which relocated last month to a different location on Main Street. According to ECPD call logs, no items were stolen.

Richard E. Antetorres, 27, and Jeannette Lopez, 28, were taken into custody by El Centro police officers at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Fifth Street.

The police department was contacted by a reporting party at 6:24 p.m. who witnessed a Hispanic male adult and Hispanic female adult wearing black hoodies and carrying black backpacks break windows to an optical business on Main Street.

El Centro police officers detained a male and female at 6:27 p.m. on South Fifth Street that reportedly matched the reporting party’s description.

Call logs stated that an extension cord and other items were found in a detained suspect’s bag and the female suspect had a black sweater in her bag.

The male suspect allegedly had a shoe print matching one found at the scene. Both Antetorres and Lopez were booked into county jail for suspicion of burglary and each held on a $25,000 bond, stated county Sheriff’s Office arrest logs.

While the suite that the two allegedly broke into was unoccupied, it led into other suites in the building.
