Two airlifted, one hospitalized after vehicle collision
Two were airlifted and one was transported to the hospital after a vehicle collision occurred Friday morning on Interstate 8, stated a California Highway Patrol news release.
Yuma residents Richard Clark, 81, and Maria E. Pozo, 53, were transported by REACH air ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment while Richmond, I.N., resident Mark J. Anderson, 60, was transported by Gold Cross ambulance to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Clark reportedly sustained moderate injuries, with lacerations to the face, left arm and elbow. Anderson also sustained moderate injuries with lacerations to arms, legs and complaint of neck pain, while Pozo sustained minor injuries and complaints of pain to chest.
The collision occurred at approximately 2:54 a.m. Friday on I-8 eastbound, west of Jeffery Road.
Details on how the collision occurred were immediately unavailable as Clark and his passenger were airlifted prior to a statement being obtained, explained CHP Public Information Office Javier Amezcua.
Alcohol was determined to not a factor in the collision and the incident is still under investigation, stated the news release.
Clark, with Anderson as a passenger, was driving a 1997 Mazada towing utility trailer on I-8 EB.
Pozo was driving a 2012 Chevrolet also on I-8 EB in the second lane of traffic.
