Margarite Armstrong, 89, of Holtville passed on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 of natural causes in her home.

Upon graduating from Holtville High School in 1946, she worked at Sears Roebuck for a brief time before beginning her 45 plus year career at Imperial Irrigation District. She was a Water Clerk for the El Centro Division and was known as “Marge” to most area farmers. Margarite was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Imperial Valley Swiss Club of Holtville. She was also active in the Swiss Rifle Club for many years. After retirement from the IID she spent a few years serving for the El Centro Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling with the Holtville bowling league at the Imperial Valley Bowling Alley and became one of the top lady bowlers of the league. She and her husband Carl enjoyed fishing and attending endless swap meets together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Armstrong; mother and father, Theodore and Christine Ming; sisters, Martha Morris, Olga Reichmuth and brother, Theodore Ming, Jr.

Margarite is survived by her son, Carl Armstrong Jr.; grandsons, Carl III, Chris and Chance Armstrong and families; daughter, Carol Armstrong; nieces and nephews, David Reichmuth, Penny Granillo, Dale Ming, Alan Ming, John Buscaglia, Rick Buscaglia and George Morris.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2017 at 6 to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Hems Brothers and Mortuary in El Centro. Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 8 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Holtville. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Memorial donations can be made to El Centro Humane Society in her name.
