Psychic scammed elderly man to remove ‘evil spirits’ Taylor Swift sets records for Spotify streams, YouTube views NYC statue of doctor who experimented on slaves defaced Stephen King blocks Trump from ‘It’

New Jersey authorities say a psychic and her son cheated an elderly man out of more than $147,000 for treatment they said would rid him of evil spirits.

Galloway police say Sally “Kim” Wando and her son, Frank Marco, face theft and conspiracy charges. Authorities say the pair told police the money was for a car from Marco’s auto dealership, not for psychic treatment.

Police found that claim unsubstantiated.

The victim, who is not named, told police Wando offered him treatments to “cleanse his soul.” Authorities say the first visit cost $5,000. Wando eventually recommended a 14-step program that costs $10,500 per step.

Authorities say Wando told the man to transfer $147,700 from his account to her son’s dealership.

It wasn’t known Saturday if Wando or Marco have retained attorneys.

Spotify says Taylor Swift has set a new global first day streaming record.

The music delivery site said Saturday it had logged more than 8 million same-day streams for her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The 27-year-old singer dropped the much-anticipated song late Thursday to streaming platforms and iTunes.

She wrote and produced it with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, who performs in the bands Bleachers and fun. It’s the first single from her sixth album, “reputation,” set to be released Nov. 10.

The video for the song will premiere Sunday on the MTV Video Music Awards. A clip previewed Friday on “Good Morning America.”

YouTube said Saturday the song’s lyric video broke a record for that site, with more than 19 million same day views.

A controversial statue in New York of a doctor who operated on enslaved women has been defaced by a vandal who spray-painted the word “racist” on it.

The Daily News reports that the graffiti defacing the statue of Dr. J. Marion Sims in Central Park was discovered early Saturday.

The word “racist” was written in back of the statue in red paint, and the figure’s eyes and neck were marked with red paint as well.

Sims was known as the father of modern gynecology.

But critics say his use of enslaved African-American women as experimental subjects was unethical.

New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and others have called for the statue’s removal.

Parks workers arrived later in the day to remove the paint caused by the defacers protesting the statue.

Stephen King is retaliating against President Donald Trump for blocking him on Twitter.

In a post late Thursday, the Maine horror author said he would block Trump from seeing the upcoming movie “It” or the currently showing television series “Mr. Mercedes,” both based on his books.

King’s tweet says “No clowns for you, Donald. Go float yourself.”

The movie “It” is about a group of children who confront their fears while confronting the evil balloon-carrying clown, Pennywise. The movie is due out next month.

“Mr. Mercedes” is about a killer who drives a stolen Mercedes into a crowd. The series began airing earlier this month on the Audience network.

King was blocked by the president this summer.

He has a long history of being critical of President Trump.
