Hurtado reported that meetings have been held with the Calexico Police Chief Reynaldo Gómez to discuss the issue of security at the event.

The consul added that this year, more than one person could receive the Ohtli Award, which is given to prominent Mexicans abroad at this time, for which the Mexican Consulate in Calexico awaits the approval of the Mexican Foreign Ministry and to announce the winners of the award.
