Trump speaks with Turkey’s leader, backs regional stability Lebanon to file UN Security Council complaint

President Donald J. Trump has spoken with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.

The White House says Trump in the call on Saturday emphasized the common commitment of the United States and Turkey to work together to increase regional stability.

According to Turkish presidenti­al sources, Erdogan and Trump spoke about the importance of their nations’ strategic partnershi­p and bilateral relations. They also agreed to meet in New York during the U.N. General Assembly. is providing ground and air support.

Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry says it will file an “urgent complaint” against Israel with the United Nations Security Council.

Lebanon said in a statement Saturday that Israel violated its air space when it conducted an airstrike against a Syrian government installati­on on Thursday.

Israeli jets struck an installati­on that former Israeli military and intelligen­ce officials said was producing weapons possibly bound for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, Israel’s chief rival in the region. The Syrian army said at the time that two soldiers were killed.
